Leadership & Change
To make a positive difference we need to understand the complexity around us, know what we have to offer and offer it sustainably alongside others, while building firm personal foundations for when strong winds blow….which they will.

In these fast changing, complex and uncertain times working for change has never been more challenging.
In seeking to make positive change we need to:
Understand well the complex systems with which we are engaging: In uncertain unpredictable situations, with no map to guide us, we need to take one step at a time. It is just possible that one small misstep might create an avalanche!
Recognize that leadership needs to be a collaborative endeavor not a heroic exercise. We each bring different strengths and need to contribute them alongside others in quality teams.
Understand a different way of working than top down heroic change: We need to experiment and innovate via safe-to-file steps so that together we can discern positive ways forward.
Recognize that this is a long distance race not a sprint: We need firm personal foundations for the journey, clear in our own sense of purpose, gifts and priorities. We need quality relational foundations with others who can provide perspective when we need it, which we will. Self knowledge and self-awareness will be part of the ongoing journey of making a real positive difference around us. Together, these can provide important compasses to guide us and anchors to hold us.
New River Leadership
Several members of the Wild Edges community have been part of doing leadership capacity building and learning about change across a range of not for profit organisations around Australia. In this work they have developed a range of one day workshops and retreats, as well as extended multi-day learning programmes around leadership in times of complexity.
Some workshops will be offered at the Wild Edges property.
Click here for details; others can be arranged wherever you are.
Wild Edges leadership and change workshops are offered in conjunction with New River Leadership [add link here].
Rethinking Leadership
Facilitators of these workshops have also produced a book which may be useful:
Rethinking Leadership: Building capacity for positive change (Peter Kaldor, Naomi Nash and Sophie Paterson, 2017)
